Michael Burt trained
as an architect, and his work demonstrates an innate understanding
of lines, planes, perspectives and structures. The vivid colors
and clean lines are pleasing to the eye, whether the subject is
a church, a group of homes or small houses atop rolling hills. Although
Burt's subjects are often buildings of a distinctive style or period,
his use of color makes them appear almost timeless.
Burt was born in Asuncion
in 1931. While studying architecture in Rio de Janeiro, he began
studying painting at the Museum of Modern Art. Burt lives and paints
in Asuncion, Paraguay. His work is included in the Museum of Modern
Art's Latin collection in New York City, the Ralli Foundation collection
in Punta del Este, Uruguay and in corporate collections in Brazil,
Argentina and Paraguay
